BEST FUEL IN BALI: Check first with Dean Petersen in Bali. +62.812.396.7988 mobile and deansevenk@hotmail.com. Mr. Petersen is very professional and followed through with all requests of fuel oil bunkering, lube oil, waste oil and anything else a super yacht could need assistance with preparing for a cruise. All was supplied at fair and competitive pricing. The fuel he arranged for us was exceptionally clean and also cheaper than the local Pertamina fuel where there was much negative comments around the docks about its quality, we later found this to be true. Only in Bali is it possible to take on AKR fuel.

Best agent is Andy Shorten for everything, including high end provisions atht we often had air freighted to us in remote regions of Indonesia. Not ethat the CAIT cruising permit may take up to 8 weeks to obtain and a vessel may not enter Indonesia without first having one issued. Andy and his staff can make all arranegemnts.

Support through Andy Shorten:

Ricardo Buxo, Dive Instructor and local business dive expert, also has excellent knowledge of historical aspects of much of the cruising areas. On arrival in Banda he gave the guests a great speech on the history of banda and the spice trade.

Djamal Djalal , “Cool, Calm and collected” on dives is how our guests described diving with Djamal, very professional and personable.

Michael in Ambon, from Maluku Divers (actually on Andy’s staff) is a great asset in the Ambon area for all airport transfers and cargo handling: prompt and professional.

Provisioning if in Bali:

Alamboga Provisioning, David Smith General Manager smith@alamboga.com

Alamboga selections are quite good and they air shipped orders to us in Labuanbajo from Bali that were easy to retrieve and get onboard in a timely fashion. We did this on three occasions and once to Maumere in central Flores. This service certainly made the remote cruising much more enjoyable for our guests as the provision resources in eastern Flores, and further on to Alor, are very weak. With that being said though one can find what you need to get by out there, fresh produce of good quality being the toughest and mostly nonexisitant. All part of the experience though! If air frighting provisions I suggest to have Andy Shorten and his staff handle everything as they utilize many sources for your orders.

The Bali Deli was frequented often while moored in Bali’s Benoa Harbour. The quality of goods is very good but they are not fluent in shipping domestically.

Labuanbajo:

Komodo Divers, Greg Hieghes +62.081.239.950.0988

Greg and his team were great assisting us with airport transfers in Labuanbajo for Komodo National Park access and a host of other requests. We chartered a dive boat and crew to support our guest diving over our two week cruise and all went off very smooth, our guests loved the traditional Indonesian “Phinisi” vessel.

Although we were able to avoid Maumere in general and utilize a pleasant small dock about 25 minutes west of town. The dock is owned by the ever helpful Claudia and her husband Kermi of the Ankermi Resort. She is at +62.813.390.96625 and was very helpful.

North Indonesian Contacts:

Airport access for northern Raja Ampat is in Sorong. Airport and Port Vessel clearances are notoriously difficult with Sorong officlas. Mr. Shorten had prearranged everything and we did not have any issues, ransom fees, bribes or delays. There isn’t much to do around Sorong so any extra time in the schedule is best spent out cruising and diving in Raja Ampat.

We cannot say enough about Mr. Williamson’s professional service and local knowledge. He was a pleasure to have onboard and certainly enhanced the guest’s experience of this unique destination. We owe a big thank you to Captain Giles Smith for the suggestion of contacting Mr. Williamson to help support our cruise. We have had Mr. Williamson onboard for over six weeks of diving throughout Indonesia.
